Once Upon a Time there was a young girl who totally mucked up her GCSE options at school... (ME)
I had to choose a language between French and German. Well obviously went for German as i really didn't like the French Teacher...
Now i had selected German as my core language; it meant that the only Arty subject that fitted in with the SET timetable was Graphic Product Design.
Ok so Graphic Product Design was kind of Arty, but not really the kind of Art that i loved and wanted to do. I did ok at Graphic Product Design ... Got a C, but really really sad that i did not take Art.
Did i make the right decision in choosing German over French.. NO! Can't remember a single word!
Finally i have made it into a fairly Art linked career as a Makeup Artist, It has taken a lot of work and time.
I am now in my mid 30's and I still really really crave and hunger the Fine Arts. You know there is something wrong when you are having a tour of your Sons school and find your self sniffing things in the Art Block. (Thankfully not a soul saw me; including my son who would have disowned me instantly).
I have even gone as far as looking to see if i could squeeze a Fine Arts degree into my life; got as far as talking to the Tutor. Oh look here comes that door slamming again!!! Sorry you need a high grade of Maths to do Art. Perhaps you can do a Maths course instead. WHAAATT!
Now some of those that know me may suggest that i am somewhat stubborn... I can't see it somehow, but i will not give up.
I have purchased some sketching equipment stored in a box that now lives down the side of my sofa. Self study - that's my idea at the moment and enjoying what happens when my pencil hits the paper, or the water mixes with the watercolours etc. Don't even get me started on the smell. I LOVE IT. I will see what happens and what the reaction is to my work.
Now when you look at my work please remember the above story, Trained in Makeup Artistry not in Painting but enjoying learning.
If there are any people who do happen across my blog who may be thinking about what their GCSE options could be; really really think about it. What is it you enjoy doing the most?
Perhaps taking Art now at my age (mid Thirties) will make me appreciate and look at things differently. I have the experience of working with Makeup Products and textures and Faces. So i think it will be an interesting process, perhaps one that wouldn't have shone at 15? Bring on the Museums!

Oh here is the 1st ever Watercolour that i have painted.
Taken from my imagination!
